< PREVIOUS Building the #702 Rabbit GTI
(Stephen Jones)

Here is the finished product (left)..... quick, fast, corners nicely, has the LSD to get me through the corners, full cage, Euro bumpers, air dam.... and a lovely shade of green.
Throw in an oil cooler (left), paint the valve cover Chevy Orange, hook everything up, and I'm ready for racing!

....except, I can't get the car on the trailer. Thanks to Nick ('70 Lotus Europa & '68 Renault Gordini R8) I now have a set of local sawmill boards to drive my Rabbit onto the trailer.

Well, that is about it (for now). The Rabbit drives great, has a lot of horsepower (the current 1.8 liter engine is running like a champ]), handles nicely, etc. I have plans over the 2003-2004 winter to build something new. Bigger, better, faster. Still in the planning stages. I will make sure to document this project.

#702 VW Rabbit GTI
(Rabbit Farmer)

General Specifications: 1.9 liter, 8-valve, bored, balanced, shaved block/head & milled pistons (12:1 compression), CIS, TT pistons with chrome molly rings, polished/ported head and intake (matched), Audi 4000 throttle body, simple TT G-grind cam (need torque at hill climbs), Quaife LSD, FK GTI gears, Bilstein Sports, adjustable camber plates, 300/450 coilover step springs front and 150/300 steps in the rear, old school 28mm rear anti-sway, front lower stress frame, 'did you really select that paint color or was it an accident' green paint, 8-pt cage, oil cooler, TT race header, TT exhaust, 14 x 6.5" BBS rims running 195x45x14 Toyo's, lightened flywheel, 4-puck bronze clutch, euro bumpers, et cetera. (2003 Season: The 1.9 was replaced with a 10:1 1.8 liter due to holes in the pistons) The car has not been lightened and has the intact interior (minus the carpet for fire protection and the rear seat due to the roll cage). The car is street legal (everything works) so that I can test out any modifications that I make to the car and retain a feeling of how the car drives.
